Messengers adopt SBC budget with "CP 101" education

PHOENIX (BP)--Southern Baptist Convention messengers adopted a budget June 17 that included funding for so-called "Cooperative Program 101" seminary classes.
Messengers adopted a 2003-04 Cooperative Program allocation budget of $182,323,110 in which the first $250,000 in excess of the budget will go toward Cooperative Program education at the six SBC seminaries. The program has yet to be developed.
The new budget was adopted during the Executive Committee report.
In other Executive Committee business, messengers:
-- approved San Antonio, Texas, as the convention site for 2007. The scheduled dates are June 12-13.
-- approved a rewording of the International Mission Board ministry statement. The new wording better reflects the IMB's current mission strategy and methodology.
-- approved the SBC calendar of activities for 2007-08. The calendar includes amendments adding a "Day of Prayer and Fasting for World Evangelization" and an "On Mission in Baptist Associations" week beginning in the 2003-04 calendar.
-- a resolution of appreciation for the members of the Southern Baptist Council on Family Life.
